Andrés Rodríguez Pérez alias Andrés Octavo was born on October 10, 1986 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. While studying high school he developed interest in fine arts and music. In 2006 he decided to study Music in the Interamerican University, enclosure of San Germán. During this period he took his first course in Black and White Photography. In 2008, he was co-founder of Isla Análoga, a collective dedicated to the publication and exhibition of analog photographs taken by young Puerto Ricans. In 2015, he joins the collective Hidrante, where he is involved in the construction of a dark room. In 2017, he obtained an undergraduate degree in Communication with concentration in Photography of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His photographic work has been presented in collective exhibitions around the Island and New York.​
